Hon. Joan Burger

Accomplishments

Judge Burger served as a Circuit Judge for the Twenty-Second Judicial Circuit for thirteen years (1995-2008).  Before becoming a judge, she practiced law for nineteen years; first as a prosecutor in the city of St. Louis for four years, then as a solo practitioner in the general practice of law. Judge Burger served as a hearing officer for the St. Louis Board of Police Commissioners 1980-1994. In 2011, Governor Jay Nixon appointed her as Chair of the St. Louis Board of Elections, where she served for five years. Judge Burger’s practice included representing plaintiffs and defendants in several jurisdictions in the St. Louis area. Judge Burger is a mediator in St. Louis and the surrounding counties.
